UBC Library provides two types of accounts, one for borrowing items (books, media, laptops) and another for logging into online resources. Figuring out what is going on can be a bit complicated!
Library Account for Borrowing and Requesting Items
Login to your Library Account to view messages related to borrowing items. You may have items that are overdue or lost which can lead to your account being blocked. This will impact your ability to: borrow items at a circulation desk, renew items online, recall items that another user has borrowed, or request items through the document delivery service, interlibrary loan, or from our storage facilities (ASRS, PARC).
Connect with our support team to resolve this issue. You can complete an Ask Us form, call our main support lines (Vancouver: 604-822-2406/ Okanagan: 250-807-9107), or visit any location.
Library Account for Online Resources
UBC Library uses OpenAthens as a secure login service for digital, licensed resources (books, journals, media, data).
All current UBC students, staff and faculty will automatically be able to use their CWL to login through OpenAthens to access the resources available to them.
If you forgot your password or need to recover MFA access, visit UBC IT.
If you cannot access any resources then complete an Ask Us form
For Alumni, Emeriti, Faculty Authorized Users and Affiliated College employees, please view our full account documentation for access options. Follow the details instructions for access that require you to login through this link before navigating to a licensed resource. If your login is not working, submit an Ask Us form.
