What does “An unexpected error has occurred. Please try again” mean?

This is a general system error that may occur when authentication fails or a session expires.
Try clearing your browser cache and signing back into OpenAthens via the UBC Library homepage. From the library homepage, click “Login” in the top-right corner and select “OpenAthens Login” from the dropdown menu.
You may also try:
Disabling any VPNs or browser extensions that may interfere with login
Using a different browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Edge)
Trying an incognito/private browsing window
